Early WInter Weather

Somehow it doesn't seem possible that fall flew by so fast. With a lot of rain and wind the fall weather was typical for this place but now we are having our second snow storm. One last Friday add a few inches and now, we're getting another one to add a few more inches. That doesn't make driving around, which is what I do, much fun. I do alright but I've seen some really crazy people who shouldn't be allowed out without supervision. So, sitting here now with no place to go and nothing to do I guess I'll just have to do some early Thanksgiving prep.Pies and bread won't do it by themselves so I guess I better get busy. My favorite pie is cherry, with squash and custard a close second, so that's first on the list. Then if there's time make some Dutch Salad. I have to hide some of that or I won't get any.
So how's your life treating you? Are you ready for the Holidays?

We are unseasonably cold here too with snow on the ground! However, with a few Herculean efforts we attained our fall goals and made it.

I've noticed the country is either burning up or in the deep freeze. I'll take the cold anytime over the heat. Happy to know you got the crops all taken care of and I understand how much work that takes, especially when fighting the weather.

We are not having a typical winter here for this area of northern western Nevada that sits right next to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It has been dry and not as cold.

We've been 20 degrees below normal for the past month. Rain, snow, wind. Makes it hard to clean up the leaves if wet or snow covered. I want some global warming here! We even had 12 foot waves on Lake Michigan!

We have fought the weather every step of the way from too much rain to the snow . The harvest was good for us just one hell of a time getting it in.

We're enjoying slightly above normal temps after 6 weeks of below normal. There is some snow left on the ground and the village streets are 1/2 covered in ice. Highways are bare and dry. Most of the harvesting is done, after some serious delays.

I have friends in Las Vegas and they say the weather has been really good. Some rain but very little but they had some strong winds.

I saw something about those waves on the weather channel. We expect that on the ocean but not on the lakes. Anyway, we take what gets thrown at us and deal with it.

A little warming spell is always welcome after snow. I'm sure it's only temporary but enjoy it while you can. It's very cold here, about 2 or 3 above zero. Not going out today unless I absolutely have to.

I can imagine how hard it is dealing with the weather at harvest time. I've been through Iowa many times and was amazed at how big the farms are. I thought ours was big until I saw theirs. Happy Thanksgiving. Have an extra helping. You have earned it, you handsome guy.
