Indigenous Peoples Day instead of Columbus Day

First it was the city of South Lake Tahoe, California and then it was Reno Nevada that instead of celebrating Columbus they voted to skip Columbus and instead voted for Indigenous Peoples to celebrate our Native Americans. Me having Native heritage I approve of this.

Although I am mainly of Irish and English I do have heritage from 3 native tribes. Mostly Cherokee from my dad and his dad, Mohawk from my dads mom my grandmother; and Blackfoot from my moms side. Now one of the DNA research companies is telling that I have heritage from a tribe from Mexico that migrated to Texas.

It is only the city of Reno that this is affected and the rest of Nevada is still the same and only the city of South Lake Tahoe that has made this change. The rest of California is still the same.

Lake Tahoe was once inhabited mainly by the Washoe Tribe and Reno has a Paiute res and there are also some Shoshone.

The Italians in downtown Reno who own the casinos still had their Italian Festival over the weekend.

The "holiday" slipped under our radar... Being a part of the "working class" we had to put in a long day concreting and harvesting. These mandatory Government Paid holidays cost us taxpayers way too much. Scam holidays to make "groups" feel included in the national fabric. How about including them in paying taxes to cover these "Holidays for the privileged few"
we didn't do the concreting part, but it wasn't a holiday for us either. Similar to Jace, we attempted some financial transaction. Ricky walking briskly to the door and almost yanked his arm out of socket due to the lock down.

Labor day is a day that I have always wondered about. The workers who work have to work while the execs and CEO's take the day off.

I retired from working and had worked since I was 14 and after about a year off after retirement I became a wife.
